BIO

Josh Kimmel was born in Montreal, Canada on July 19th, 1978. At only 10 months old, he was brought into the water, and was able to swim without the aid of a teacher. By the time Josh reached the age of 6, he began swimming competitively.   At this time he was ranked one of the top swimmers in the country for this age group and was seen as one of the Top Olympic Prospect Swimmers (TOPS). At the age of 19, he qualified for National Championships. As a National level swimmer, he had the opportunity to compete around in the world in places such as Paris, Israel, Trinidad & many more. Josh had very high expectations for the 2000 Olympic Trials. Unfortunately his dreams came to a crashing halt when he got word of his fathers' tragic death. Allan Kimmel, who was also a competitive swimmer, passed away during swim practice only 3 months before Olympic Trials.

At 21, Josh decided to give his true passion of acting a real attempt. This vision was always at the back of his mind, because as a swimmer, there was no time to focus on anything else. At the beginning of his 2nd year at McMaster University, he began to read up on the industry, and see how he can improve his craft as an actor. Once arriving back into his home town of Montreal, the time was finally right for him to go full steam ahead.

Once he took classes on audition techniques and scene study, he felt the time was right to search for an appropriate agent. Josh landed a few roles in Montreal, Toronto, New York and Los Angeles, and within only 3 years, he managed to become a full member of both SAG & ACTRA. Although many feel that acting is a risky business, Josh chooses to pursue his dream as a working actor. He explains, "If you want something bad enough, you will find a way to make it happen". A passionate theory to live by, but only time will tell what the future can bring.
